I am just me, trying to live in the moment and enjoy life while doing no harm to others. I do believe in love though. Doesn't the Bible say that 'God IS love? If everyone just put that into practice everyday we'd be alright.

To answer the subject question, I believe God created humans with the need to worship something/someone. This is why there's some type of religion in all human societies.
DY
I don't understand why people keep saying this. If you were born in the middle of a jungle and raised by apes I bet you wouldn't worship anything. We are taught to be religious. If religion weren't in the way we'd just be our true selves without putting on any air of superiority because of an imagined connection with a supposed higher being. If there is a God he is not talking to ANYBODY! (tamtam of the 'I'm over it' class)

Hey Vassago - Welcome to the forum. I live in Oakland County. I haven't met ANY ex-dubs in person. The last cong. I attended was Pontiac East. I haven't been in over 7 years and I don't know who's in and who's out.
You were smart not to let them pressure you into baptism. They just automatically assume that everyone who goes to the kingdumb hall HAS to get baptized. Gesh, what a f'd up way to be ... they can't love you for who you are, only if you're one of them. So glad I got out.
Maybe we can get an apostafest going and meet up. There is a group that meets in the area. Maybe someone will chime in. I love to get out and have a good time. I have a couple of teenagers too ... talk about somebody being glad to be out of the cult! My kids are ECSTATIC.

Away from the "Core" - Subversion at the Convention
by ezekiel3 inlast year i thought i would share my diligent notes and show what it was like at the core of the organization.. not this year.
for a learning experience, i decided to stray from the active ones and see what everyone else was doing during this convention.
perhaps this would be special since the whole theme of the dc was "godly obedience".

Great review ...thanks for posting. Gives me hope that more and more are getting bored with the borg. The fake-filled derelict slave drivers are losing their grip on the R&F. They think it's because of materialism/work/education - NO - people are tired of being pressured to conform to a life of servitude to the WTBTS. If they'd loosen their grip they could hold on to more new converts and keep the lifers happy at the same time. Sad that power and control take priority over human interest.

Consciousness Rules.

interesting essay for some:.

Thanks for the post frankiespeaking. I've been exploring the concept of consciousness, reality, living in the present etc. I found the web page extremely interesting. My faith in religion, the bible, the god concept is at an all time low. I don't believe that mankind can elevate our thinking and actions through faith in the unknown/unknowable origin and creator of the universe. All we have is right here, right now, we must take responsibility for ourselves instead of waiting for an unknown spirit entity to rescue us. I see absolutely no evidence to support that position, never have, and probably never will. But if I do, I know that I am a humble enough person to acknowledge my error and accept the consequences. But it appears to me that there is a conscious awakening taking place around the world today. I believe we are in for some major changes, but not the type that the apocalyptic are anxiously awaiting.
I agree with the title of the thread CONSCIOUSNESS RULES!!!

Did You Usually Feel Guilty While A JW?
by minimus inmy 79 year old mom that has every ailment known to man was going to the bookstudy this afternoon because she felt "guilty" for not going the last couple of meetings due to illness.
i told her it was 95 degrees outside and asked her not to go since she has difficulty breathing.
she decided to do it anyway.

Yes, of course I felt guilty. The constant 'reminders' of all that I was supposed to do in a week went through my mind every day. But as blondie said, it was really guilt over not pleasing men. Once I recognized the true source of my misery I left the borg for good. Ridding myself of guilt has been a slow process but I am so glad to have come out on the other side. Now I search for truth in myself and the world around me. No longer trying to live up to impossible standards set by men - either in organizations or proclaimed 'holy writings', the constant sense of dread is slowly dissipating.

Re-active Instead of Pro-active?
by PaulJ inif jw's are supposedly the 'true' religion.
why are they re-active to issues instead of pro-active?
in the bible, gods people were looked after and guided in many things that they simply knew nothing about- for example sanitation while in the wilderness.

That's what I wanted to know. How come they didn't know the iron curtain was falling BEFORE it happened???
Cause they're not who they 'think' they are.
